The old saying... location-location
Last year I worked on the tech bands so I computer CW'd , maybe it's location or just more ops
on cw. I had no access to 20 meters last year so that could throw my perspective off too...
both were fun.. (years).
I should have worked more CW
I should have worked more CW this year, but I was having fun on phone. I did drop down and work W9EAU on CW just because. Locations helps. I think some year I'd like to do a rover operation to see what that would be like.

CONDITIONS WERE POOR, LOTS OF QRM, LITTLE ACTIVITY EXCEPT 80/75 METERS.. PHONE BEING BUSY FROM ABOUT 3.84 TO 2.91 OR SO. NOT AS GOOD AS LAST YEAR'S FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE RESULTS... I MANAGED 65 Q'S OUT OF IT AND COULD FIND FEW NEW CALLS THE LAST HOUR.. ON TO NORTH DAKOTA.. NEXT WEEK FOR POINTS NEEDED FROM THERE
Conditions were far better
Conditions were far better for me this year than last. I didn't hear a single WI station last year. On the whole I don't think things were too bad. I heard Bill Pike K9OW in Vernon Cnty working a massive pileup. I have a high noise floor here, so I need a pretty solid signal from the other station before I can hear them. I used a G5RV, my 6-BTV and a temporary OCF dipole only about 8 feet off the ground to take advantage of NVIS to work the close in stations. At the end of the day I had fun.

I spent most of the time on the G5RV. The OCF was an afterthought that I cobbled together early Sunday morning and mounted quite low to the ground. I switched between the two antennas a few times while working you and there was no noticeable difference on my end. I don't think I'd bother to put it back up for next year. I took it apart and returned it to it's normal 20M dipole configuration this afternoon.
