The last nice night of Summer and Rabbit poop.

I am in my standard blogging frame of mind...fueled by alcohol. As the title says, I have had a few and am working on the Korbel as I type. It is presently, according to the Droid, 78 deg. I cranked up the firepit, tiki torches (which are not working very well) and have finished some lefover sesame chix which my lovely wife ordered the other night...mmmm.
The dog (Huggs) has throughly searched the yard for his favorite salad...rabbit poop. Julie hates it when he does that, I figure he is at least getting some fiber in his diet. Keeps things moving in an old kodger like him. At the moment he is lounging on the sofa under the pergola on the patio. Julie headed to one of those girl shopping parties at a friends house they like to go to. I told her what I was doing tonight...she said she may not stay long ;) The wind seems to be out of the east tonight, good thing the lounge chairs move easy.
Recent events have kept me busy lately, I am now a Farmer. A month ago, my father died. It was quite unexpected even though he was almost 77. I don't want to elaborate much further in my condition. I have now become the man of the family. Just Mom, my two sisters and me. The farm has been idle for a few years, but there is still the 4 acres of lawn to mow and the other maintenance of the house and land. Been out there every weekend this month either mowing or fixing something. Too early to decide on any course of action other than present course, so present course it is.
I seem to be out of Puff-Corn...bummer. The Chinese was good. Interesting how heated up Chinese is as good as fresh...hmmmm. Maybe it's the Korbel. Speaking of which, I'm empty...
OK, fresh drink, more wood on the fire, dogs inside so he can't sneak over to his sweeties place for a nip (literally). What else, not watching Star Trek tonight...ooh I know. Strange knowledge...
I haven't been sleeping the normal straight 8 hours like the government says I should. I seem to hit the sack about 9 (I am solar powered) and have been waking up around 12 or 1AM. Figured it was some stress or another. I did some Google searching...seems that pre-lightbulb, this was normal. People would go to sleep when the sun went down, wake up around midnight for a couple of hours then go back to sleep for a few more hours. They would wake in the midnight hours and contemplate, get a snack, visit the neighbors or do what we usually think of doing in the middle of the night while we are in bed...with someone else. I am feeling much better about my sleeping, now to decide what to do in the middle of the night...
Hard to follow that last thought...maybe I should go in and watch Star Trek and order out for Puff-Corn.
Well, I have about a half hour of watching the fire left and the netbook has 3/4 battery left.
I think I should drink faster, or maybe get the ladder out to move the flood lights on the side of the house. They seem to be focused on the roof of the pergola. Hmmm...getting on a ladder...after having a few drinks...just to forget the screwdriver and get back down...then climb up again and refocus the floods on the side of the house...in my bare feet... Sounds like a plan to me. Back in a while...need to refresh the drink and fire too...
Hey I seem to have survived that. I even decided to do some adjustments on the Goldwing seat. I had a local upholster (thank you Lord for spellcheck) do some work on the seat on my old '83 Goldwing. He did the foam work and said 'try it out' before he makes the leather cover. That was the week before we found Dad. I have ridden it, but J hasn't. I just made an adjustment on her part with the angle grinder (that I use when I'm welding stuff) to the seat pan (plastic) just now. It was pretty much...just grind that chunk of plastic off...kind of adjustment. I await my upholsters reaction. He will fix it just right I am sure, but after sitting on it, seems it was a good idea. It'll be nice tomorrow and I warned J to be ready for a ride.
The Tiki's (I just found out how much I love the landmarks on keyboards, I can't see the letters at all) are doing their job, and I seem to need to fill the glass again. Huggs is trying to convince me to let him look for more 'salad'. I don't doubt his nose to find it in the dark, I doubt my ability to find him...
My, the battery in the netbook is working really efficiently tonight. Still have 28% left. Maybe a reread to check if the spellcheck it smart enough. The battery on this thing reminds me of the gas tank on my old Jeep, at 1/4 tank, you better be lookin' for a filling station. Down to 15 minutes. Guess I will just end it for tonight. Solar power is running out. Maybe I'll blog a bit after mindnight...
