2009 SKYWARN Recognition Day - December 5, 2009

From Todd Shea:

Through the cooperation of local amateur radio operators, our office hopes to participate in the annual SKYWARN Recognition Day on Saturday, December 5th. It celebrates the contributions volunteer Amateur Radio operators make to the National Weather Service via the SKYWARN storm spotting and reporting program. Locally we are blessed with so many dedicated folks that help us out year after year.

On that day we will be making contacts with other amateur radio operators and NWS offices around the country using HF and other bands. All amateur radio operators who participate in the SKYWARN program are more than welcome to join us on Saturday, December 5th. We could use help operating radios or logging. Office tours are also available as our special guests.

The official web site is at: http://hamradio.noaa.gov/

Overall, it is a fun, relaxing day and chance to meet other operators from around our forecast area. We would like to see more of you and could certainly use some help operating on all different bands. We will probably be in full swing from 8am to 3-4pm.

Please feel free to spread the word to your clubs or amateur radio storm spotters that you know of.
