Field Day 2009 - Aftermath
The W9IDX group set up for Field Day this year at Pietrek Park near Arcadia, WI. Like any good field day, things were kicked off Friday evening with a hearty meal of steak and potatoes.
The next priority was to set up the temporary antenna farm. First was Jim, W9UUM who set up a SteppIR dipole mounted to the back of his travel trailer.
Then came Mike, N0EXE who put up a solar panel and Buddipole combo.
Last but not least, Tom, KC9ECI set up a G5RV on a surplus military fiberglass mast.
A few QSO's were made, with KC9ECI working 10M QSO's until midnight.
Ghost stories were shared around the campfire and a few tasty adult beverages were enjoyed, as per the evidence found the next morning.
Even after the ghost stories around the campfire, Mike elected to spend the night between two trees, braving not only the ghosts, but also a fair bit of rain and wind that blew though.
Saturday started earlier for some than others as Mike and Tom got an early start on the day with a tasty breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes and coffee, while Jim and Greg, W9IKU decided to sleep in.
A fine time was had by all on the air as W9IDX.

Between QSO's there was time for a little rest and relaxation:
Mike manned the GOTA station for a short while.
And, as happens all to quickly each year, it was time Sunday afternoon to tear things down, pack up, and head for home, only to start planning for Field Day 2010.
